Matteo’s at Annabel’s
Berkeley Square, London
The opulent cast glass bar created in our studios is the central feature of Matteo’s restaurant within Mayfair’s members-only club Annabel’s.
The interior designed by MBDS pays homage to the original Annabel’s. Some of the club‘s original artwork lining the distinctive marigold coloured walls is reflected in the polished silver leaf of our bevelled mirror ceiling, connecting and providing a flow to all the spaces in the restaurant. More of our handmade silver leaf panels cloak the painted pillars and walls, reflecting the light from the tasselled wall sconces.
Following on from the entirely mirrored private dining room we made at Scott’s and the Legacy Room in Annabel’s, we created a curved silver mirrored bar using a selection of bespoke cast glass architectural-shaped profiles and our kiln-cast glass. Over a period of weeks, piece by piece, we constructed the bar in our studio. From the build we were able to make-to-measure a precise template for the mirrored glass bar top. All was then ready for a few days of re-assembly at Matteo’s where lighting was installed beneath the bar top to give the bar a glow of contemporary glamour.
