Mark’s Bar, Hixter
16 Great Guildford Street, London
Mark’s Bar is located in the basement of a former late 19th century, tin box printing factory behind Tate Modern.
We were specially commissioned through Stiff + Trevillion architects to make a set of dark smokey looking antique mirrors. They were installed to form a large panelled wall adjacent to the bar. Some contrasting lightly antiqued mirrors wrap around a column behind the bar with cut-outs for lighting to highlight the bottle display. They add to the cool combination of industrial girders, original brickwork, metals, bare floorboards, reclaimed leather chairs, and original artworks in this award winning cocktail bar.
Hix City
9a Devonshire Square, London
Devonshire Square is in an area rich in trading history once part of the expansive warehousing network owned by the East India Company, started back in 1768. There is now a glazed courtyard between restored warehouses from where you find the entrance to Hix City.
We were very pleased to work again with Mark Hix and Stiff + Trevillion to create a wall of silver antiqued bevelled mirrors for the ground floor dining room, conjuring the illusion of increased space and light within the industrial warehouse interior with its retained iron columns and heavy wooden beams.
The entire side wall of Mark’s Bar basement room is covered with some seriously smokey mirrors helping to create that late night dive-bar vibe.
Hix
Brewer Street, Soho, London
As part of this restaurant creation for Mark Hix we were asked to supply and install a wall of lightly antiqued mirrors above the ground floor bar, and cover a complete wall and back bar of the basement lounge with dark antiqued mirrors. We created the mirrored HIX signs and the leaded-light panels in the sash windows to the front of the restaurant using different textures of clear antique glass.
